fearture article artist planning
1 band or solo artist?
solo artist
2 my artist is going to be a well-known punk
with standout cloths. They are the controversial type that frankly doesn’t care
what anyone thinks. He’s the anarchist the type that scares the granny’s. I want him to be like a fashion icon for the
punk society. This guy is pretty mean
and likes to get in fights. He loves his drugs anything he can get his hands
on. Even though he may look like a thug he is very political and actually quite
well educated. His views are portrayed in his songs.
3 they are doing the interview because he is advertising a
new tour. But he doesn’t really want to do the interview and gives very poor
witty answers.
4 Appearance. he will be wearing black with things like
punky stuff like safety pins badges patchwork, spikey hair, studded cloths,
5 the portrait photos are going to be taken in front of a
wall. I don’t want anything too distracting because I want to highlight how
much my artist stands out.
magazine names
magazine names
1 safety pin - a safety pin in the punk era was iconic and mostly recognised as a music symbol by people of that time.
2 f**k off - an insult would draw the attention of my target audience as it shows controversy and the attitude it would present.
3 pretty vacunt - pretty vacant is the name of one of the sexpistols songs. only people who know the sexpistols would understand this therefore get a better feeling of the magazines attitude and what other genre's of music would be inside aswell. also the swear word hidden in the name
4 rat- associated with london drains and underground and they are dirty and do what they want. this sort of links to punk attitudes and how they are hated by society and don't care.

5 SCUM- punks dont really get insulted about much so they would quite like the insulting humour.
6 anarky- their whole motto of life evolved around anarchy. doing what they want when they want and relates to the song anarchy in the uk.
7 thatcher- Margret thatcher was the prime minister at the time of the punk era and there was a lot of controversy between them. to have it as a magazine title is a bit of a risk as not often would a fan of punk want to buy anything to do with thatcher but might like its ambitious approach.
8 OI!- oi is a cockney way of getting someones attention. at the time a lot of punks from London had a cockney accent.
9 DYE!-punks put die in their hair and would link to their sometimes violent lifestyle.
10 dirty citizen- punks were presented as poor examples of the English citizen
11 suburbs-the suburbs are sort of where punk got really popular. also there is a fmous song by the member called "sound of the suburbs"
12 bulldog-when you think bulldog you think of England london again. its just an iconic image.
toms top three
1 safety pinn
2 pretty vacunt

analysing music magazine front cover
front cover
mast head - the logo is in bold colours in contrast to the more dark more serious reality of the magazine reminding the audience that its more of poeple educated in music. however the logo is simple and not extremely crazy implying that is doen't have to make lots of effort for it to be eye catching to bring audience in. the magazine expects people to buy the magazine because of the popularity of it.
strapline- the strapline is the only blue on the page making it stand out. there is a pitcure of another magazine on the strap but the puff is in the colour silver implying that you should look at it second or after you reads this magazine as silver is usually reffered to as second place when the faces of the arctic monkeys have been iluminated to make them lookd gold and alex turner is wearing a gold chain implying he is the main band member and the band you want to hear about the most.
Slogan- there is no slogan showing the audience that they are a serious agazine and not trying to be cheesy.
main image
the main image is the four band members of the Arctic monkeys. their dark hair and dressed in navy blue shows their formal approach. there is only one person making eye contact with the audience suggesting that he is the front man of the band.they have very different hairstyles showingt their induviduality and highlights to the audience that they are the height of fashion. the main effect that the imnage has is that they are a serious band that people should take seriously, not just some forgetable one.
Anchorage text
the anchoarge text is white in contast to the dark background. it is ironic for the white as arctic relates to snow. it says "how broken hands, competing haircuts and a strange voyeurism helped make their best record yet"there is use of the rule of three puffing their new record and giving the reader a sense of anticipation. "how broken hands" gives the reader a sense of dramaas well as humour"competing hair cuts" this gives the reader the idea that their article would have a lot of appealing features to make it interesting to read.
sell line
the WHITE LIES sell line has alliteration and the rule of three trying very hard to get the readers focus off the main image to be attracted to their main article.it also rythmes giving the reader the impression that the article is informal and amusing to read.
RICHARD BRANDSON'S sell line is his quote "I'm choosing which band to send to space" this is an interesting topic to anyone but some readers may not believe this at first so it would attract them to read the article to find out more.
